(KurtNimmo) – Methane and Martial Law in the Gulf of Mexico
Earlier this week Reuters reported on a massive amount of methane discovered in the Gulf of Mexico. Texas A&M University oceanography professor John Kessler said methane gas levels in some areas are “astonishingly high.” Kessler recently returned from a 10-day research expedition near the BP oil gusher. Kessler’s team measured both surface and deep water within a 5-mile (8 kilometer) radius of BP’s destroyed wellhead. “There is an incredible amount of methane in there,” Kessler told reporters. He said the level may be as much as one million times the normal level. Read More Here
(DailyPaul) – Halliburton Buys Oil Clean Up Company just 10 days before spill
Does a company that both builds oil rigs and cleans up oil spills have any motivation to prevent oil rig disasters?
That’s the question some people in business and politics are asking themselves after Halliburton’s purchase of an oil clean-up company 10 days before the Deepwater Horizon explosion that killed 11 workers and launched the worst oil spill in US history. Read More Here

(MI2G) – Gulf Oil Gusher: Danger of Tsunamis From Methane?
A new and less well known asymmetric threat has surfaced in the Gulf of Mexico oil gusher. Methane or CH4 gas is being released in vast quantities in the Gulf waters. Seismic data shows huge pools of methane gas at the location immediately below and around the damaged “Macondo” oil well. Read More Here

(TheFoundry) – Feds Continue to Block Oil Spill Cleanup
If there were ever a time to pull out the Ronald Reagan quote “The nine most terrifying words in the English language are: ‘I’m from the government and I’m here to help,” it would be here and now with this oil spill. Either no one’s in charge or everyone is. Either way, it’s not working and is creating needless delays that waste valuable time to suck up the oil and protect our coastlines. Read More Here
(ScienceBlogs) – Gulf Oil Spill Disaster: Spawn of the Living Dead for Atlantic Bluefin Tuna?
A recently published study, intended to provide data to commercial fisheries in the Gulf of Mexico so they maximize their catch of Yellowfin Tuna, Thunnus albacares, whilst avoiding bycatch of critically endangered Atlantic (Northern) Bluefin Tuna, Thunnus thynnus, suggests that the Deepwater Horizon oil leak may devastate the endangered Atlantic bluefin population, causing it to completely collapse or possibly go extinct. (SouthernStudies) – TILT: The illness afflicting workers exposed to BP’s oil disaster?
Workers cleaning up the BP oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico have reported suffering from flu-like symptoms that may be the consequence of exposure to chemicals in the oil as well as the petroleum-derived solvent being used to disperse the spill.
The illness — marked by headaches, fatigue, upset stomach, and problems with memory and concentration — has been dubbed toxicant-induced loss of tolerance, or TILT. People suffering from TILT lose the ability to tolerate exposures to household chemical products, medication or even food, Dr. Claudia Miller of the University of Texas Health Science Center told WOAI TV: Read More Here
(Reuters) – Methane in Gulf “astonishingly high”: U.S. scientist
As much as 1 million times the normal level of methane gas has been found in some regions near the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, enough to potentially deplete oxygen and create a dead zone, U.S. scientists said on Tuesday. Read More Here
Our oceans vegetative life, converts the majority of our atmospheric carbon dioxide to oxygen. Contaminating our oceans with oil will disrupt this cycle of life. One gallon of oil contaminates 250 gallons of water. Transoceanic drilled into prospect name “Kodiak” in the area of Mississippi Canyon 771, in 4,986 feet of water with an estimate oil reserve of near 12 billion barrels. Should this reservoir of oil be released all at once, quickly, or gradually into the oceans, then most life on the planet earth will eventually diminish due to lack of breathable oxygen.
