(Fox) – Judge Andrew Napolitano clearly explains the Constitutional problems with the Arizona immigration law. As emotions run high at the lack of Federal action on the border, Napolitano strips out any emotional rhetoric and sticks to the Constitution. Continue reading
(AmericanThinker) – It’s a frightening thought: government takeover of the media. But having tightened their grip on health care, financial services, and energy, it’s only logical that the Democrats should turn their attention to the media.
Discussions underway at the Federal Trade Commission and the Federal Communications Commission point toward a dangerous new effort to regulate what Americans read and hear. The takeover under discussion would apply across the board to print media, radio and television, and the internet. The result of proposed regulations would be nothing less than an end to free speech in America. Continue reading
(WashingtonPost) – Attorney General Eric Holder said Sunday that if the federal government fails to stop Arizona’s controversial immigration law from taking effect, it may launch a second legal challenge to combat any racial profiling that takes place.
The Obama administration is suing Arizona over the state law, set to take effect July 29, which would make it a state crime for a person to be in the country illegally. It requires local law enforcement during all “lawful stops” to question a person about his or her immigration status if there is “reasonable suspicion” that the person may be an illegal immigrant.
In its July 6 court filing, the Justice Department argued that the Arizona law is unconstitutional because the power to set immigration policy and enforce it resides with the federal government and not the states. Read entire article
(NYTimes) – Governors Voice Grave Concerns on Immigration
In a private meeting with White House officials this weekend, Democratic governors voiced deep anxiety about the Obama administration’s suit against Arizona’s new immigration law, worrying that it could cost a vulnerable Democratic Party in the fall elections. Read More Here
(NYDailyNews) – President Obama’s top spokesman admitted Sunday there’s “no doubt” Democrats could lose their grip over the House of Representatives in this fall’s elections.
“I think there is no doubt there are enough seats in play – that could cause Republicans to gain control. There’s no doubt about that,” White House press secretary Robert Gibbs told NBC’s “Meet the Press.”
The talking point from the always-scripted Gibbs seemed calculated to scare swing voters and fire up the party’s somewhat dispirited grass-roots activist base for the fall campaign by raising the specter that the political right could seize the House. Republicans also stand to chip away at the Democrats’ 59-seat Senate majority. Continue reading
(CNSNews) – Senators John Kerry (D-Mass.) and Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) said they are not worried that their cap-and-trade plan might harm fellow Democrats going into the November elections, at a time when voters are more concerned about bread and butter issues such as the economy and the 9.7 percent unemployment rate.
The bill, the American Power Act, was unveiled in May and would establish a nationwide cap-and-trade system that would regulate the amount of carbon dioxide emitted into the atmosphere. In exchange, the bill would also extend various tax subsidies and credits in an attempt to make renewable energy sources relatively affordable.
Cap and trade basically means that a ceiling, a cap, would be placed on certain carbon-emitting manufacturers who would be allowed to exceed that cap if they purchase carbon credits (trade), the proceeds of which would be invested in alternative energy after the government collected a portion of those proceeds. (Some analysts describe the plan as “cap and tax.”) Read entire article
(HuffingtonPost) – The Democratic proposal includes increased money for border patrol and drug war agents, equipment, helicopters and unmanned drones. It would create a national ID — which is dubbed a “biometric social security card.” Though Democrats insist that it is not an ID card and can only be used for employment purposes.
The proposal would also include a crackdown on employers who hire undocumented workers. It works to deport some immigrants
who are not in the country legally and creates a limited …. Read More Here

(Infowars) – Prior to the passage of the “historic” Obamacare bill, Democrats went hither and yon in their effort to sell the insurance corporation crafted plan like snake oil. They said it was for the little people and if you opposed it you were a racist or some kind of rightwing extremist.
Now with the ink barely dry on the bill, the truth is beginning to come out. Continue reading
(KurtNimmo) – Yet another poll reveals the obvious — large numbers of Americans oppose Obamacare. “A Mason-Dixon poll of Florida voters released over the weekend offers the dose of cold water Democrats may need to temper their expectations on health care’s electoral impact,” writes Politico. – Continue reading
(MSNBC) – Ron Paul was interviewed on MSNBC’s Morning Joe this morning. The Congressman believes that Obamacare will benefit Republicans in the 2010 midterm elections only because many voters have already forgotten how bad Republicans were when they were in power. The next generation of independent-minded individuals realize that both parties are basically the same and that the ideas of liberty need to influence the people and the two parties from the ground up. (KurtNimmo) – The zombified Tea Party created by establishment Republicans and headed up by media darling Sarah Palin is taking heat for a spate of bad behavior around the country in response to the imposition of Obamacare. It is not clear who is responsible for the foul language and threats directed against Democrats but this has not stopped them from blaming their ideological twin, the Republican Party. Dems are demanding the Republicans denounce their creation — the hijacked and transmogrified Tea Party sworn to uphold the Republican platform of big government and endless war against phantom enemies. (Mises) – Why Not Universal Car Insurance?
I was recently involved in a car accident in which I managed to smash the front end of my Chrysler — one consolation is the fact that it was a Chrysler and so was not much of a loss. I sat around for a minute or two, trying to figure out what had just happened. Finally, I got out of my car to talk to the driver of the truck I had hit. While filling out the claims report and talking to my insurance company, I could not help but examine my experience through the lens of Austrian economics and the free market. Read More Here

(KurtNimmo) – The House has voted down a resolution to pull troops out of Afghanistan by the end of the year. After three hours of debate by a miniscule number of antiwar Democrats, the House voted 356 to 65 to reject the withdrawal proposal. Five Republicans joined 60 Democrats in support of pulling out while 189 Democrats and 167 Republicans were opposed. Continue reading
(Politico) – Rep. Eric Massa (D-N.Y.) says the House ethics committee is investigating him for inappropriate comments he made to a male staffer on New Year’s Eve — and that he’s the victim of a power play by Democratic leaders who want him out of Congress because he’s a “no” vote on health care reform. (WeeklyStandard) – Tonight, Barack Obama will host ten House Democrats who voted against the health care bill in November at the White House; he’s obviously trying to persuade them to switch their votes to yes. One of the ten is Jim Matheson of Utah. The White House just sent out a press release announcing that today President Obama nominated Matheson’s brother Scott M. Matheson, Jr. to the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
“Scott Matheson is a distinguished candidate for the Tenth Circuit court,” President Obama said. “Both his legal and academic credentials are impressive and his commitment to judicial integrity is unwavering. I am honored to nominate this lifelong Utahn to the federal bench.” Continue reading
(ABC) – White House officials tell ABC News that in his remarks tomorrow President Obama will indicate a willingness to work with Republicans on some issue to get a health care reform bill passed but will suggest that if it is necessary, Democrats will use the controversial “reconciliation” rules requiring only 51 Senate votes to pass the “fix” to the Senate bill, as opposed to the 60 votes to stop a filibuster and proceed to a vote on a bill. (KurtNimmo) – Turn them upside down and they all look alike. Democrats and Republicans that is. On any given day you can find a news story that focuses on the conflict between democrats and republicans, or Group A and Group B. These groups could be anything, but as long as they are toted as being the opposite of each other, they will clash. When one party supports a bill, the other tends to oppose it. This holds true for both sides, creating a never-ceasing battle over political parties, as opposed to policy. Continue reading
(KurtNimmo) – Democrats in the Senate have rammed through their totalitarian Obamacare at gunpoint bill. But there is much work to be done before they can foist this monster on the American people. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid need to reconcile the different House and Senate versions. This is usually done through conference committees, but the process will be modified for the precious Obamacare legislation. Continue reading
(PaulWatson) – Not content with savaging American taxpayers with two huge new financial burdens during an economic recession, in the form of health care reform and cap and trade, close allies of Barack Obama have proposed a new war surtax that will force Americans to foot the bill for the cost of protecting opium fields in Afghanistan, paying off drug lords, and bribing the Taliban. It appears that most liberal opponents of the wars in the Middle East/ Central Asia have ceased their opposition with the Obama presidency. The liberal Democrats who abhorred Bush’s war policy (and most grass roots liberal Democrats did vehemently oppose the Bush war policy although this was not always the case with liberal politicians and media figures) apparently were simply opposed to wars led by Republicans.
