Net Neutrality

(CNN) – Net neutrality is foremost free speech issue of our time

If we learned that the government was planning to limit our First Amendment rights, we’d be outraged. After all, our right to be heard is fundamental to our democracy.

Well, our free speech rights are under assault — not from the government but from corporations seeking to control the flow of information in America. Read More Here

(ActivistPost) – Video: The Trust Crisis with Regulating Net Neutrality

Since it was reported that Google and Verizon are close to a deal on so-called “net neutrality,” the policy debate has heated up in Washington. Of course the debate has very little to do with the actual mechanics of how net neutrality will work, rather who will get the control to regulate it.

However, now that the FCC has abandoned negotiations on a “net neutrality” compromise, it is looking like the Congress will ultimately establish the rules — handed down to them by their corporate masters. It seems the Elite’s fight over who controls the dial has been decided.  One thing is for sure, whoever controls the speed dial on the Internet will control the entire Web and subsequently all flow of information. Video: Murdoch’s mouthpiece – It’s not what Beck exposes, it’s the issues he deflects and who he discredits that counts

(MakeItEightEh) – If you are a businessman and need to hire a potential employee, what is standard procedure when “checking out” your prospective employee?

Well, one prudent thing to do would be to contact the previous employer.

Can you imagine FOX News, as it called CNN to get a character reference for Glenn Beck? What do you suppose CNN would report?

Well, they would likely tell FOX that Glenn was good at following orders, toeing the “station line” and reporting what he was asked to do. For CNN, that would be the “liberal line”. Did he do a good job? Would CNN tell FOX he was great for CNN? Or, would they say, well Glenn became too “Republican” for our liking, and so we realized he had to go. Kind of like Lou Dobbs? The Mainstream, Corporate Media Is A Propaganda Mill

Welcome To The World’s First Murdochracy – John Pilger

Adelaide is Australia’s festival city. Its arts festival is currently in swing. Polite debate, aesthetics and high-octane wine are putting the world to rights. With one exception. Adelaide is where Rupert Murdoch began his empire. The voracious trail starts here. No statue stands; his is a spectral presence, controlling the only daily newspaper, even the printing presses. Across Australia, he owns almost 70 per cent of the capital city press and the only national newspaper, and Sky Television, and much else. Welcome to the world’s first murdochracy. Continue reading

The United States of Corporate America: From Democracy to Plutocracy

“The price of apathy towards public affairs is to be ruled by evil men.” Plato, ancient Greek philosophe
..“The 20th century has been characterized by three developments of great political importance: The growth of democracy, the growth of corporate power, and the growth of corporate propaganda as a means of protecting corporate power against democracy.” Alex Carey, Australian social scientist
“The most effective way to restrict democracy is to transfer decision-making from the public arena to unaccountable institutions: kings and princes, priestly castes, military juntas, party dictatorships, or modern corporations.” – Noam Chomsky, M.I.T. emeritus Professor of Linguistics

On Tuesday, January 19 (2010), the Obama administration got a kick in the pants from the Massachusetts voters when they filled former Senator Ted Kennedy’s seat by electing a conservative Republican candidate. The essence of their message was: stop dithering and start governing; stop trying to satisfy the bankers and please the editors of Rupert Murdoch’s Wall Street Journal, and start caring for the ordinary people. Give this a good read, and my guess is that after you are armed with this important information, you will be able to spot these techniques as they are being deployed against you. The best way to counter propaganda is to understand the techniques and how they are used. Continue reading

MSM: The Mushroom Effect

(HuffingtonsPost) – One could be forgiven for thinking that the neoconservatives who nudge us towards war with Iran are under the effect of the magic mushroom. Obsessed with Iran, their trips take on the shape of a ‘mushroom cloud’. Christopher Hitchens is one such example. Writing for The Australian, one of Rupert Murdoch’s papers, Hitchens’ Mullahs indubitably fancy a mushroom betrays a sly mind that lacks lucidity. Continue reading

Difficulty Of Being An Informed American

The American print and TV media have never been very good. These days they are horrible. If people intend to be informed, they must turn to foreign news broadcasts, to Internet sites, to foreign newspapers available on the Internet, or to alternative newspapers that are springing up in various cities. A person who sits in front of Murdoch’s Fox “News” or CNN or who reads the New York Times is simply being brainwashed with propaganda.

Before conservatives nod their heads in agreement, I’m not referring to “the liberal media.” I mean the propaganda that issues from the US government and the Israel Lobby. Continue reading
