General Smedley Butler

Major General Smedley Butler retired from the Marine Corps in 1931 at the age of 48. He had faced gunfire 120 times and the famed columnist Will Rogers wrote of Butler, “He is what I would call a natural born warrior. He will fight anybody, any time….He carries every medal we ever gave out.
