The spark that has triggered rebellion

‘I’m as Mad as Hell, and I’m Not Gonna Take This Anymore!’ This sentiment is being voiced by protesters turning out for Tea Parties and Health Care Town Hall Meetings around the country. People are angry and frightened by the prospect of government running their health care system, but their anger goes far beyond a 1000 page health bill.

Health care reform is merely the spark that has touched off a prairie fire of grassroots rebellion among a people who believe their representatives do not represent them, do not listen to them and do not care what they think. Many Americans feel that they are losing control of their financial well being, their values and their culture. Shell shock set in as they tried to absorb the rapidity of drastic change.

The first stirring of protest came with the Tea Parties in the spring. These gatherings were completely misread by a media that ignored them and dismissed the attendees as right wing kooks. The Tea Parties were about taxes, yes. But far more they were about the rapid intrusion of the federal government into private affairs, about deficit spending, and a growing understanding that America was heading down a very dangerous road.

People see a government in Washington that is in the process of destroying the constitutional principles of limited government and maximum personal freedom that made America the freest and most prosperous country the world has ever known.

James Madison, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson must be turning over in their graves at what is being done to the Republic they founded. At the close of Constitutional Convention in 1787, Benjamin Franklin said we gave you “a republic if you can keep it.” At the moment, keeping it does not look promising.

Our founding fathers had an incredible understanding of human nature, and of the natural tendency of governments to become oppressive. They gave us a unique Constitution that attempted to limit the power of government and ensure the rights of individuals. In 1798 Thomas Jefferson wrote, “In questions of power, then let no more be heard of confidence in man, but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the Constitution.”

  1. Here in Canada, we have public health care. The most you will pay, in only a few provinces, is 80 dollars a month. Although the newspapers are always fanning the flames and talking about waiting lists and yada yada ad infinitum, the truth is it is one of the best systems in the world. I have never had to wait for any kind of health care and health practitioners here are first class. If you try it, you will never go back to private insurance companies ripping you off and killing you. Best of Luck.
    Ronnie.

  2. Mister canuck, if you think our government will be anything other than nazi with this, get and education, and in six years or so, if you are not too embarrassed with yourself come back and discuss this again!

  3. Look at the stupid USers destroying themselves.

One cannot even offer friendly advice, they too far gone in their delusional warp.

Soon they’ll be gutting each other and shoving entrails in their maws.

  4. “Many Americans feel that they are losing control of their financial well being, their values and their culture.” That’s the crux of it. Unfortunately, there are some well-financed and organized groups (the usual ones) looking to pit those who fear impoverishment against the truly impoverished, to the advantage of those who have already done the impoverishing. Not a new strategy. And as is often the case, it is working. As the obstructionists continue to claim our system is irrevocably broken, we’ll cry out for a strongman, and then we’re off.

  5. I concur with the other person who said he envisioned these useless fucks gutting each other and shoving their own entrails into their own mouths just like sharks in a feeding frenzy of blood lusting. Little do they know the guts they are devouring are their OWN. how pathetic and how very typical of the assholes. They deserve what the fuck they get. Slowly sinking in their own fecal material with shit eating grins on their feckless, mass murdering, dumbed down faces…

  6. To James in Comment #2:

    You’re truly delusional.
Keep listening to Rush, Glenn Beck, Bill O’, Michelle Malkin, et al, ad nauseum. These are corporate shills who are about the business of keeping America dumbed down, in order to allow the scum, that brought you the Iraq War (and all of the other endless wars) and corporate socialism (the Bank Bailouts of a year ago), to bring America to its knees.

The health care debate is a specious argument, in that the current system is broke.
Introducing a public option is the only way to keep the corporate thieves honest.

Sadly, White America is falling for the race-baiting and supporting platforms that are clearly against their best interests. If the reforms fail to happen because of these shills, these fools deserve what they get in terms of health care (or lack of).

Don’t want Federal death panels? Not a problem – we can keep the ones currently run by United HealthCare, Aetna, Kaiser Permanente, Blue Cross, GEHA, etc. Don’t want socialism? Let’s shut down Medicare/Medicaid and Social Security – Let’s also get the 700 billion back from the bank bailouts, while we’re at it.
