Ahmadinejad slams West’s instrumental use of media

(TehranTimes) – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad slams the West for its instrumental use of media with the aim to dominate the world.

The president made the remarks in a Saturday speech to mark the ‘Reporters’ Day’.

August 8 (Mordad 17 in the Iranian calendar) is named the Reporter’s Day marking the anniversary of the martyrdom of IRNA correspondent Mahmoud Saremi in Afghanistan in 1998 when Taliban fighters occupied the Iranian consulate in Mazari Sharif.

“Western media have always portrayed justice-seeking nations as weak and inefficient while showing the bullying powers as freedom-seeking and pro-democratic,” Ahmadinejad stated.

The West is using media as a psychological warfare tool against other countries, the president noted.

Ahmadinejad cited the Palestine issue as a concrete example in which Western media try to manipulate realities on the ground.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Ahmadinejad noted that there is no obstacle in the way of Iranians livings abroad to return back to the country.

MSM: Airport body scanner scandal erupts

(SFGate) – Just as Oakland became the last of the Bay Area’s three airports to install full-body scanners at security checkpoints this week, a new scandal has erupted.

The TSA has insisted all along that these machines cannot capture, store or transmit images of travelers’ naked bodies.

According to a CNET report, another federal agency, the U.S. Marshall’s service, admitted that it had actually stored over 30,000 images recorded by a full-body scanner used at a Florida courthouse.

EPIC also discovered that the TSA actually specified to manufacturers that the machines have the ability to send and store images. The TSA says that these functions are only for testing and training and insists on its web site that the airport body scanners are delivered to airports with storage and recording functions disabled. Report finds drug industry funded studies almost always yield good results

(NaturalNews) – Two new studies have added more reason for concern that high-fructose corn syrup causes significantly more harm to the body than its mere sugar content would suggest.

High-fructose corn syrup contains 55 percent fructose and 45 percent glucose. In contrast, table sugar (also known as sucrose) contains a 50-50 split.

In the first study, published in the journal Pharmacology, Biochemistry and Behavior, researchers from Princeton University found that rats consuming high fructose corn syrup gained more weight and developed more cardiovascular risk factors than rats consuming equivalent amounts of sucrose.

“Some people have claimed that high-fructose corn syrup is no different than other sweeteners when it comes to weight gain and obesity, but our results make it clear that this just isn’t true, ” researcher Bart Hoebel said.
