Ahmadinejad slams West’s instrumental use of media

(TehranTimes) – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad slams the West for its instrumental use of media with the aim to dominate the world.

The president made the remarks in a Saturday speech to mark the ‘Reporters’ Day’.

August 8 (Mordad 17 in the Iranian calendar) is named the Reporter’s Day marking the anniversary of the martyrdom of IRNA correspondent Mahmoud Saremi in Afghanistan in 1998 when Taliban fighters occupied the Iranian consulate in Mazari Sharif.

“Western media have always portrayed justice-seeking nations as weak and inefficient while showing the bullying powers as freedom-seeking and pro-democratic,” Ahmadinejad stated.

The West is using media as a psychological warfare tool against other countries, the president noted.

Ahmadinejad cited the Palestine issue as a concrete example in which Western media try to manipulate realities on the ground.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Ahmadinejad noted that there is no obstacle in the way of Iranians livings abroad to return back to the country.

The president also called on organizations which have filed lawsuits against certain reporters to withdraw their complaints. – Source: Tehran Times

Iran’s president: US a global ‘dictatorship’

(KansasCity) – Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says that the U.S. is a “dictatorship” as it tries to control world affairs.

Ahmadinejad made the comments Wednesday night during a speech at the Iranian Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital. He is in Nigeria for a summit of an organization known as the D-8, or the Developing Eight nations.

In full, Ahmadinejad says the U.S. is “the self-proclaimed leader, and everybody should know that a self-proclaimed leadership is (a) dictatorship. I am going to say, on behalf of you, that the years of dictatorship are over.”

Nigeria, a nation of 150 million people, is split between Christians and Muslims. A large crowd of Muslims filled the embassy for the speech. – Source: Kansas City

(PressTV) – More US missiles kill 18 in Pakistan

Another US missile strike has killed at least 18 people and wounded dozens in a tribal area in northwest Pakistan, officials say.

According to Pakistani security officials, a drone fired six missiles 50 kilometers west of Miranshah, the main town in North Waziristan on Friday. They say a house in Bahadar Khel village was the target of the attack.

Reportedly, the previous drone strike killed three people late Thursday at a house in the village of Khaddi, 15 kilometers east of Miranshah.

Almost 1000 Pakistanis have been killed in US drone strikes since 2008.

The issue of civilian casualties has strained the Islamabad-Washington relations.

Washington claims the attacks target militants whereas most of them have killed civilians.

Islamabad has repeatedly called for an end to the attacks, saying they violate Pakistan’s sovereignty. – Source: PressTV

The Constitution Applies to Terrorists

(LewRockwell) – Yes, you read that right. The Constitution applies to terrorists. It also applies to stay-at-home moms, illegal immigrants, truck drivers, anti-government radicals, and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Put differently, the Constitution does not apply only to citizens of the United States. It seems that protectionist collectivists treat this document like a two-year-old treats his favorite toy – unwilling to share, and incorrectly believing that it is his and his alone. This fallacy has become so propagated throughout the country’s general political mindset that a barbaric jingoism has resulted, leading people to automatically support the denial of constitutional protections of freedom for anybody who is a “terrorist.”

But who is a terrorist? Continue reading

(AOLNews) – Opinion: Where Are All the Terrorist Attacks?

As the details of the Times Square car bomb attempt emerge in the wake of Faisal Shahzad’s arrest Monday night, one thing has already been made clear: Terrorism is fairly easy. All you need is a gun or a bomb, and a crowded target. Guns are easy to buy. Bombs are easy to make. Crowded targets — not only in New York, but all over the country — are easy to come by. If you’re willing to die in the aftermath of your attack, you could launch a pretty effective terrorist attack with a few days of planning, maybe less.

But if it’s so easy, why aren’t there more terrorist attacks like the failed car bomb in New York’s Times Square? Or the terrorist shootings in Mumbai? Or the Moscow subway bombings? After the enormous horror and tragedy of 9/11, why have the past eight years been so safe in the U.S.? Read More Here

Speculation has been running rampant among certain sectors of the web-world lately about the true origins of the massive oil spill that has engulfed the Gulf and threatens marine, plant, animal, and human health in a region already beset by natural disasters and toxic industries. Unwilling to accept the mainstream media version of the story (namely that it was the result of off-shore drilling activities) and suspicious of the timing of the calamity (namely that it occurred right on the cusp of Earth Day and during a period of political contentiousness over drilling), this faction has surmised that the “trigger event” in this instance may have been (choose your favorite) either: an attack by the North Koreans; an act of homegrown eco-terrorism by leftwing environmentalists; or something to do with Venezuela, China, and/or other Communist (machi)nations. With little more than a hint from an online Russian source, the theory of a North Korean attack in particular has been gaining virulence among certain fox-trotters. Read More Here
