The Hutaree Case Falls Apart

(LewRockwell) – Federal District Judge Victoria Roberts has ruled that the nine members of the so-called Hutaree Militia accused of plotting to wage war against the Regime can be released on bail. Prosecutors had argued that bail should be denied because the group posed a severe danger to public safety.

(Freep) – A federal judge in Detroit today ordered the release of nine members of a Lenawee County Christian militia group freed on bond over the objections of federal prosecutors.

“The United States is correct that it need not wait until people are killed before it arrests conspirators,” U.S. District Judge Victoria Roberts said in a 36-page decision. “But, the Defendants are also correct: their right to engage in hate-filled, venomous speech, is a right that deserves First Amendment protection.”

She said federal prosecutors failed to persuade her that the defendants must be jailed until trial.

Feds Try to Link Gun Dealer to Hutaree

(KurtNimmo) – The ATF is attempting to link a Michigan gun dealer to the Hutaree “militia,” the group charged with plotting to kill local police. “A Michigan-based firearms dealer indicted this week on an unrelated federal gun charge had sold about a half dozen weapons to members of the extremist Hutaree militia group that was plotting to assassinate police,” writes Michael Isikoff for Newsweek.

Corporate Media Connects Hutaree Members to U.S. Military

(KurtNimmo) – Newsweek is reporting that two members of the Hutaree “militia” are ex-members of the U.S. military. “Federal investigators have discovered that two members of the extremist Michigan-based Hutaree militia group charged with plotting to assassinate law-enforcement officers are former U.S. military servicemen, including a Marine Corps corporal who was a Persian Gulf War veteran and decorated expert rifleman,” writes Michael Isikoff.

Meeks is not a terrorist, he insists, and planned to run for political office and was a member of Campaign for Liberty. If true, the revelation puts a different spin on the case than the one pushed by the FBI and corporate media. The whole case appears to be a government frame-up from top to bottom.

(TenebroustVLog) – Campbell’s Soup replied to my straightforward question about fluoride in the water they use for their products. The letter was a masterpiece of dissembling. I hate when people skirt questions. As far as I’m concerned it is enough to convince me that they use fluoridated water. I have some further thoughts on the Hutaree militia raid and the fact that informants and outright agents have infiltrated most if not all of these types of groups. I would not be surprised if the informant/agent egged the people on in what they may have been doing, if it’s anything at all. We are under the all seeing eye of big brother. Raid on Hutaree puzzles Adrian

(DetroitNews) – Adrian — This small town in rural southeastern Michigan is known mostly for Adrian College and corn farms, but it’s no stranger to controversial anti-government movements.

The raid of an alleged Christian extremist group, Hutaree, has shocked residents of the small community of about 22,500 residents.

“I don’t know what they were doing, but they apparently hadn’t caused any trouble here that anyone knew of,” said Peter Hayes of Hayes Insurance Agency in downtown Adrian.

“Frankly, it seemed like a lot of overkill to me this weekend,” Hayes said about the raid. “Cars, trucks, a helicopter — why, they had more people out there than there was in church Sunday.”

Adrian, the Lenawee County seat, is the home base of the Rev. Rick Strawcutter, whose low-power radio station “Radio Free Lenawee” garnered attention for broadcasts stridently denouncing the federal government before it was shut down by the FCC in 2001 because it hadn’t obtained the proper broadcast license.

“Nine members of a Lenawee County-based militia group were planning to ‘levy war’ against the United States and ‘oppose by force’ the nation’s government, according to an indictment released this morning in U.S. District Court in Detroit,” reports the Detroit News. “The five-count indictment was unsealed this morning and alleges that between August 2008 and the present, the defendants were attempting to use bombs and other weapons to oppose the U.S. government.”
