(MailOnline) – Cutting-edge cameras will scan drivers’ faces and check them against a crime database as they enter car parks, it emerged last night.

NCP, which is trialling the system at 40 sites, hopes it will help identify potential car thieves.

Cops May No Longer Respond to Crime in Oakland, California

(KurtNimmo) – Forget about police assistance in Oakland, California.

“Oakland’s police chief is making some dire claims about what his force will and will not respond to if layoffs go as planned,” reports NBC Bay Area. “Chief Anthony Batts listed exactly 44 situations that his officers will no longer respond to and they include grand theft, burglary, car wrecks, identity theft and vandalism. He says if you live and Oakland and one of the above happens to you, you need to let police know on-line.”

In other words, if you live in the Bay area, you need to have a gun and plenty of ammunition. Because the cops just said they will no longer respond if criminals kick down your door. The bad guys no longer have anything to worry about.

IBM wants traffic lights to stop your car

(PhysOrg) – The system would be able to receive position information from vehicles waiting at red lights to determine a queue of participating vehicles stopped at the signal. It would then determine the time still to elapse before the lights turn green, and if this time is over a set threshold (such as two minutes) the traffic light would then send signals to the vehicle engines to stop them.

When the lights turn green, a “start-engine notification” would be sent to the front vehicle to start its engine first, and a signal would be sent to the second vehicle in the queue an “optimal time” later, and so on.

The IBM patent says the system could be applied to traffic signals at intersections, railway crossings, or other transportation signals for “indicating correct moments to stop and to proceed.” Its stated aims are to reduce wastage of fuel and optimize the movement of vehicles through the intersection or crossing. Can IBM car technology pose threat to gun rights?

(Examiner) – IBM has hacked into a car. Now the multinational technology giant has applied for a patent to “manag[e] engines in response to a traffic signal.”

If you’re crawling through traffic in 2025 and approach a traffic light, IBM hopes it will be able to take control of your car.

And according to the patent, you won’t be able to go again until it lets you.

…With a laptop and customised software called CarShark, the researchers disabled the brakes of a regular family car and switched its engine off – while it was moving.

Naturally, there’s “good” reason given for doing this. In a word: “safety.”

It seems to be the standard excuse for giving up all kinds of freedom to government control these days.
